Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience
• Customer Service OR Data Entry - 2 years (Required)
• Proficiency in keyboarding (Preferred)
• Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology (Preferred)
• Interpersonal skills; proper grammar, spelling and punctuation

Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting the correct patient record
• Review schedules and physician orders to register for the appropriate service
• Scan insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, and POAs and enter demographics and insurance in the EHR
• Explain and complete regulatory and privacy documents; collect co-pays and balances
• Greet patients and families; answer questions and guide to service areas
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties; provide updates to families in waiting rooms

## Patient Access Representative IApply: On-Site: Williamsburg, VA: Part time: Posted Today: JR-107249**City/State**Williamsburg, VA**Work Shift**Second (Evenings)**Overview:**Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a **Patient Access Representative** - Part Time Rotating schedule The **Patient Access Rep** is responsible for all aspects of the patient registration process, including: verifying the patient identity and selecting the correct patient record, reviewing schedules and physician orders to register the patient for the appropriate service, scanning important documents such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs and verifying and entering the patient's demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record. Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents and adhere to all applicable privacy and compliance standards. They will explain and collect co-payments, deposits and outstanding balances, and perform transactions securely. Greet patients and families, answer questions, and ensure the patients arrive to the appropriate service area at the right time.
