Summary

The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients, providing the initial impressions of our healthcare system. They are responsible for accurately registering patients, guiding them through the system of care, and serving as a resource for patients and their families. The role encompasses all aspects of the patient registration process.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and their families, ensuring a positive customer service experience through a caring, professional, and helpful approach.
• Verify patient identities and update relevant information in the electronic medical records system, creating new entries as needed.
• Handle and explain complex and sensitive information, particularly regarding health insurance coverage, benefits, and documentation, while adhering to privacy and compliance standards.
• Organize and schedule patient appointments and direct patients within the facility as needed.
• Explain and collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, utilizing price estimation tools to inform patients of their financial obligations.
• Support the patient during registration by explaining and completing necessary forms and documents for regulatory compliance.
• Assist with related tasks such as organizing provider schedules, switchboard operations, or inventory management for admitted patients if required.
