Role Purpose
The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients and must exemplify high standards of customer service, compassion, and professionalism, aligning with BJC's mission, vision, and values. The role involves facilitating all aspects of patient entry into BJC facilities, requiring emotional intelligence, professionalism, and the ability to make personal connections. Responsibilities include accurate collection of demographics and insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collection to maximize reimbursements and prevent denials. Accurate selection from the Master Patient Index (MPI) is critical for patient safety. The candidate must maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation standards.
