Role Purpose
The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients and must exemplify high standards of customer service, compassion, and professionalism. The role involves facilitating patient entry into BJC facilities, requiring emotional intelligence and the ability to make personal connections. Accurate collection of demographics, insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collection are critical to maximize reimbursements and prevent denials. Correctly selecting the patient from the master person index (MPI) is vital for patient safety. The team member must maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and relevant regulations.
