Patient Access Representative (PAR) I

As a Patient Access Representative (PAR) I, you’ll be the friendly face that assists patients and families, whether checking them in at the Emergency Department or guiding them through registration. Responsibilities
  1. Welcome Patients: Ensure a smooth and stress-free registration process for all patients.
  2. Customer Service: Be the first point of contact, making patients and families feel comfortable and informed.
  3. Support Patient Flow: Collaborate with departments to facilitate seamless registration and transitions.
  4. Problem-Solving: Address questions, verify details, and handle complex situations efficiently.
  5. Assist Across Areas: Work in various departments like Emergency, Outpatient, and Inpatient registration.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer Service Experience, ideally in healthcare, retail, or hospitality. Completion of UH Patient Access Rep/Patient Scheduler Apprentice Program is a plus.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Clear and concise interaction with patients, families, and staff.
  • Strong Writing & Keyboarding Skills: Accurate data capture and efficient processing.
  • Willingness to Learn and Grow: Complete Patient Access Representative II exam within a year and advance as ready.
  • Problem Solver: Handle insurance questions and patient concerns professionally.
  • Attention to Detail: Handle sensitive patient information thoroughly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of direct patient contact experience.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Experience in Healthcare settings such as hospitals, offices, or insurance companies.
