The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients and must exemplify the highest standards of customer service, compassion, and professionalism, aligning with BJC’s mission, vision, values, and service standards. This role involves facilitating patient entry into BJC facilities, requiring emotional intelligence, professionalism, and the ability to connect personally. Accurate collection of demographics, insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collections are critical to optimizing reimbursements and preventing denials. Precise patient identification from the master person index (MPI) is essential for patient safety. The team member must have a friendly demeanor, keen attention to detail, and knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation standards.
