Role Purpose
The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for patients and must exemplify BJC’s standards of customer service, compassion, and professionalism. This role involves facilitating all aspects of patient entry into BJC facilities, requiring emotional intelligence, professionalism, and the ability to make personal connections. Responsibilities include accurate collection of demographics and insurance information, benefit verification, and point-of-service collection to maximize reimbursements and prevent denials, while ensuring patient safety through correct identification in the Master Patient Index (MPI). A friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and regulatory standards are essential.
