Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a Part-time PRN Registration specialist for the Cabarrus NC area. This role supports the Enterprise Revenue Cycle in the Arrival Emergency Department for both inpatient and outpatient services.

The incumbent greets patients, explains processes, verifies insurance, collects co-pays, and ensures accurate registrations across multiple service areas, aligning with AIDET standards and privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge all patients and family members promptly.
• Introduce the patient to services and set expectations for care.
• Provide information on duration, registration time, and clinical service time.
• Explain data collection for demographics, socio-economic and financial info and privacy safeguards.
• Hand patients off to next area with a clear thank you.
• Identify insurance coverage and benefits, discuss out-of-pocket costs, and collect co-insurance and co-pays.
• Verify coverage electronically with patients and resolve eligibility or in-network issues.
• Screen uninsured patients for urgent status and refer for charity financial counseling.
• Coordinate with physicians, Care Coordinators, and leaders to ensure order quality and compliance.
• Ensure pre-registration and registration accuracy, including demographic, insurance and authorization data.
• Pre-registers and registers patients using established procedures for all units and prepare necessary documents.
• Educate patients on documents and signatures during registration.
• Manage calls to complete pre-registrations and generate/assemble required documents.
• Participate in team activities and in-services and support leadership.
