Job summary

Advocate Health in Cartersville, GA is seeking a part-time Patient Access Clerk to ensure smooth patient check-in and accurate demographic and insurance data. The position covers 24 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m., with potential to transition to full-time as needs change. You will greet patients, complete registrations for walk-ins, verify benefits, collect out-of-pocket costs, apply financial clearance guidelines, and direct complex cases to a Financial

Qualifications

• Ability to identify and understand issues; examines data logically.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules; stays updated on pre-certification requirements.
• Mathematical aptitude and strong oral and written communication skills.
• Understanding of basic human anatomy and medical terminology for patient referrals and authorization processes.
• Ability to handle confidential information and read/interpret safety rules and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients arriving for appointments and monitor patient flow for efficiency.
• Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information.
• Complete registration for walk-in patients and collect out-of-pocket liability.
• Follow Financial Clearance policy and refer to Financial Counselor when needed.
• Perform visit closure including scheduling follow-ups and providing documents.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements.
