Responsibilities

• Create the initial electronic health record as the patient foundation and ensure no duplicates. Follow accrediting bodies' mandates for patient identification.
• Check in and register patients; verify demographics, insurance, and collect co-pays. Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Explain insurance coverage and obligations to patients; refer to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and related regulations; obtain signatures as required.
• Greet patients, answer calls, assist with transportation, interpreter services, and other patient needs.
• Monitor EHR work queues and support department processes.
