Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Services Representative III for Ambulatory Services in the Winston-Salem area. You will interview patients, pre-register for admission and outpatient services, and verify insurance to ensure accurate records and billing.

The role supports registration across multiple clinics, collaborates with the Supervisor, and assists with financial counseling and referrals while upholding HIPAA compliance. Full-time, 40 hours/week, typical schedule 8:00a-5:00p.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience in a customer service role in a fast-paced environment with high volume of calls or in-person requests.
• Experience with insurance verification and pre-certification processes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance practices.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients in-person and/or by phone to obtain information for hospital records and billing; pre-registers patients for admission, outpatient services, and other procedures.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-certifications as required.
• Process internal and external referrals per department procedures.
• Perform clerical duties including answering phones, chart processing, faxing and scanning.
• Collect and process upfront deposits or set up payment arrangements as required.
• Screen patients for Medicaid, ACA, or hospital financial assistance programs and provide referrals.
• Assist team members and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
