Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking an experienced Registration Specialist to greet patients, collect demographics and insurance details, and schedule visits by phone or in person. You will help maintain accurate patient accounts, collect co-pays, and support clinic efficiency while upholding privacy and compliance requirements.

This regular, full-time position offers 40 hours per week, day shifts, and hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Able to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations (preferred).
• Experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and update demographic and insurance information for all patients.
• Meet standard productivity metrics while performing the pre-registration and registration process.
• Complete all regulatory and compliance related forms for the visit.
• Complete verification and payment workflow, including screening for potential funding sources, and setting patient expectations for reimbursement.
• Demonstrate commitment to positive patient and family experiences and excellence in customer service.
