Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Access Services Representative to support patient registration and accounting for inpatient and outpatient services. You will verify insurance and payment information, arrange payment plans, and assist with financial assistance programs while delivering high-level customer service.

This hourly, part-time position (25 hours/week) rotates across departments; shift may be 5:30 am–5:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or Equivalent
• Work Experience: 0-6 months
• Shift Details: Float between departments; PRN; Hours between 5:30 am - 5:30 pm (depending on department needs)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level customer service while registering patients and preparing accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing.
• Verify payment methods (insurance, self-pay, agency) and patient/insurance information.
• Set up payment arrangements and assist with financial assistance programs.
• Assist in collecting copayments and deductibles and respond to basic billing inquiries.
