Job summary

Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients and the community, handling registration, insurance verification, and safeguarding patient information.

The role requires excellent customer service, strong communication, basic computer skills, and the ability to explain financial options while updating records accurately; weekend/holiday shifts may apply per department policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service and communications with patients, medical staff, and the public.
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Performs registration and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for billing.
• Maintains the confidentiality of all patients’ records and accounts.
• Ensures patient flow is maintained and informs Supervisor of issues immediately.
• Answers the telephone with an established greeting and assists callers in a friendly manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
