Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact, delivering top-tier customer service in line with Mercy mission and standards. You will help patients enter Mercy facilities, handle scheduling, registration, and preliminary insurance steps.

The role emphasizes accuracy in patient data, insurance knowledge, and ability to work under pressure while maintaining compassion and teamwork with clinical and non-clinical staff across Mercy locations.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service preferred.
• High School diploma required; some college helpful.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; telephone etiquette.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff and insurance companies.
• Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines and perform daily assignments with accuracy.
• Knowledgeable with various computer systems; ability to use a 10-key calculator and keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling and patient registration.
• Verify insurance benefits, pre-certification and financial clearance.
• Ensure most accurate patient data is obtained and populated into the patient record.
• Support pre-visit collection and related financial processes.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines and Mercy standards.
