Job summary

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital seeks a Patient Access Associate to accurately collect demographic and insurance data in the EHR at entry points. You will handle cashiering, collect co-pays, and ensure compliance with EMTALA and HIPAA while delivering exceptional customer service.

Two years in customer service and a hospital registration background are valued, along with strong communication and detail orientation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in a strong customer service environment.
• One year of hospital registration experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and professional communication skills.
• Ability to use EHR and billing software.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and EMTALA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Performs cashiering functions and collects co-pays; balances cash drawer.
• Verifies medical necessity compliance with Medicare guidelines.
• Explains consent forms and collects signatures.
• Maintains patient privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Delivers excellent customer service and professional communication.
