Job summary

Edgewood Surgical Center is seeking a front desk registration assistant to support patient registration and pre-registration. You will admit and register patients for procedures, handle inquiries, ensure forms are completed, and input demographics and billing data into the system.

The role requires accuracy, strong communication with clinical staff, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting while maintaining patient privacy and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must communicate clearly with hospital staff and patients across all ages.
• Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Exposure to a clinical environment with standard safety practices.
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Admit and register patients on day of procedures.
• Handle general inquiries from patients and staff.
• Input patient demographics and billing information into the system.
• Maintain daily schedules for procedures and staff.
• Process encounters and balance to co-payments.
• Collect balances due at check-in.
• Direct patients to relevant areas within the building.
• Answer phones and document calls appropriately.
• Obtain signed statements when required.
• Record payments and maintain orderly admission desk.
• Perform insurance data entry and basic reconciliations.
• Collaborate with nurses and doctors regarding surgeries and meetings.
