Job summary

Banner Health in Susanville, CA seeks an experienced Patient Access professional to handle the administrative intake and registration, verify insurance, and explain financial responsibilities. You will work within a hospital setting, ensuring accurate documentation and a positive patient experience.

You will collaborate with clinical teams, perform multi-system data entry, and help patients access care while supporting financial counseling and payment arrangements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Customer service skills or experience in patient financial services/insurance collections.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision in a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient demographics and inputs data into the EHR; documents accounts to maximize reimbursement.
• Proficient with services including inpatient, observation, emergency, obstetrics, surgery, imaging; may cover 24/7.
• Verifies and understands insurance benefits and eligibility.
• Creates a positive first impression through excellent patient service and communication.
• Submits timely payer authorizations and assists with financial counseling and plans to reduce denials.
• Collects patient liability and explains Banner Financial Assistance as needed.
• Follows CMS and hospital compliance forms; uses multiple computer applications.
• May perform deposits posting, daily reconciliations, and other Patient Access tasks.
