Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Patient Access professional to greet patients, verify insurance, determine eligibility, and register patients efficiently. You will help collect patient liability and guide counseling when needed, ensuring compliant documentation and accurate data entry in the EHR.

You’ll collaborate with clinical teams to optimize patient flow, support financial counseling, and resolve issues quickly in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in patient financial services or insurance processes is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient demographics and inputs information into the EHR accurately to maximize reimbursement and reduce denials.
• Proficient with multiple service areas including inpatient, emergency, obstetrics, surgery and imaging; must be able to cover 24/7 operations.
• Documents and verifies insurance benefits; understands guidelines and submits timely payer notifications to minimize denials.
• Provides excellent customer service and creates a positive patient experience through effective communication.
• Collects patient liability, assists with financing options and applies Banner Financial Assistance when appropriate.
• Performs various Patient Access tasks such as deposits, training, and daily reconciliations as needed.
