Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time ER Patient Access Specialist in New Jersey to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, and collect payments. The role supports patient flow, coordinates with Financial Advocacy, and handles EPIC duties to ensure smooth admissions and scheduling.

Prior customer service experience and knowledge of Medicare/HIPAA are preferred. Must have a High School diploma and the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in customer service or clerical/office settings, including answering phones and assisting customers.
• Knowledge of Medicare/HIPAA/EMTALA rules and regulations and updates on insurance pre-certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks in patients arriving for their appointments and collects patient responsibility.
• Completes registration on walk-in patients and verifies/updates demographic and insurance data.
• Verifies insurance benefits, communicates expected patient responsibility, and requests payment.
• Identifies patients needing financial assistance and refers to Financial Advocate as needed.
• Manages patient flow, completes visit closure, and schedules patient visits.
• Assists with new caregiver onboarding and handles EPIC work queues.
