Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester seeks a Registration Services Clerk to handle patient registration, insurance verification and scheduling in the hospital system.

The role requires attention to detail, data-entry skills and strong patient service orientation. Working hours include the 3PM–11:30PM shift with a non-exempt status; a signing bonus may be available and depends on interview eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Preferred: Associate degree or healthcare certificate.

Responsibilities

• Accurately obtains and enters demographic, insurance and other related patient information into the computer-based patient registration/scheduling system.
• Obtains and verifies patient insurance coverage and follows guidelines for pre-authorization and referrals before visits.
• Schedules and/or arrives radiology, lab and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Coordinates the provision of multiple services to patients.
• Collects patient liabilities including deductibles, copays and balances prior to or on the date of service.
• Performs bed control, transfers, discharges and admissions tasks.
• Maintains accurate records and required documentation.
