Job summary

St. Joseph Medical Group is seeking a Patient Service Representative for our high-volume Kansas City office. You will interview patients to obtain demographics and prep for visits, greet and check in patients, and route calls to staff.

Responsibilities include scheduling patients in clinics and radiology, processing referrals, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and addressing billing issues. Proficiency with medical terminology and clear communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a medical office setting
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient or representative to obtain identifying information and demographics to prep for visits
• Schedule patients in the clinic and assist with scheduling in other clinics
• Schedule patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers
• Process referrals and schedule patients accordingly
• Verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays and prior balances, reconcile and prepare deposits, and troubleshoot billing issues
• Greet and check in patients and route incoming calls to appropriate staff
• Coordinate clinic business processes such as supply ordering, record release, fax and mail processing
• Operate a computer to input/retrieve data and communicate with patients and staff using age-appropriate language
