St. Joseph Medical Group in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Patient Service Representative to interview patients, collect demographics, and prep for upcoming visits.

This full-time role requires at least 2 years of medical office experience, strong customer service, and knowledge of medical terminology. You will greet patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays, schedule appointments, and assist with billing as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient or representative to obtain demographics for visits.
• Schedules patients in the clinic and assists with scheduling elsewhere.
• Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.
• Processes referrals and schedules patients accordingly.
• Verifies insurance, collects co-pays and prior balances, reconciles, and troubleshoots billing issues.
• Greet and check in patients; handle incoming calls and route or message appropriately.
• Coordinates clinic processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, and record release.
• Operate computer to input/retrieve data; use age-appropriate communication; maintain medical terminology proficiency; project a positive attitude.

Hours: 8-hour shifts, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO.

We are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, in our high volume St. Joseph Medical Group office. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits.

Responsibilities

**To move forward in this position you must have at least 2 years of experience in amedical office setting**

• Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits
• Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others
• Schedules patients for radiology appointments as requested by providers.
• Processes referals and schedules patients accordingly.
• Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues
• Greets and checks in patients and takes all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages
• Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing
• Must be able to: (1) operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data; (2) communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques; (3) maintain proficiency in medical terminology; (4) project a positive and helpful attitude.

Qualifications

• 1. Previous experience in a medical setting, preferred.
• 2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• 3. High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• 4. Customer Service experience preferred.
