Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Part-time Patient Access Representative to manage patient registration in outpatient and Emergency Department settings. You will greet patients, verify insurance, enter diagnoses, and coordinate with departments to ensure smooth patient flow and payment accuracy.

This role requires strong customer service, data entry, and familiarity with health information systems. Some travel between campuses may be required; prior Epic experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required; healthcare-related certificate/degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly.
• Insurance background preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Previous medical administrative experience and/or health care-related education courses preferred.
• Knowledge of health information system (Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and validate patients in the hospital information system to maintain EMR integrity.
• Explain and uphold patient identification policies (Merge, Chart Corrections, Look-Up).
• Handle patient registration duties: demographics, emergency contact, diagnosis, insurance verification, real-time eligibility, and co-pays.
• Coordinate with clinical/diagnostic departments and revenue cycle teams to ensure clean claims and timely payments.
• Cross-train across locations and outpatient/ED settings; travel between campuses may be required.
• Greet patients and visitors; provide courteous service and assist with MyChart and On My Way tools.
• Answer calls on the main line and direct inquiries about services.
• Obtain required insurance referrals and pre-authorizations when not documented.
• Ensure accurate entry of provider entries and NPI/U/SUPIN for outpatient services.
