Job summary

Denver Health's Sloan's Lake Primary Care is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to be the first point of contact in outpatient registration. You will register patients, verify insurance, explain financial responsibilities, collect payments, and maintain accurate information to support timely access to care.

Responsibilities

• Register and check in patients for outpatient services; maintain encounters in the EHR; verify and update demographics and insurance.
• Explain financial responsibilities; collect co-pays and deposits; refer to financial counseling when needed.
• Collaborate with clinic leadership and staff to support efficient flow; communicate delays or issues.
• Check insurance eligibility and benefits; resolve coverage issues with verification teams.
• Meet productivity, quality, and accuracy standards; participate in audits and process improvements.
• Provide coverage across departments or clinics as needed to meet staffing needs.
• Adhere to HIPAA, EMTALA, and HRSA guidelines across all duties.
