Job summary

Tanner Health System is seeking a patient registration specialist to streamline pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, precertification, and documentation workflows across our facilities. Qualifications

• Excellent public relations skills and professional demeanor when dealing with the public.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff and payers.
• One year of customer service experience preferred; ICD-9 / CPT-4 knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred; some college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Registration quality: efficient throughput and positive patient experience.
• Enter patient data with focus on accuracy of demographics and financial information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and CO B validation; ensure correct payer data in HIS.
• Complete pre-certifications; document medical necessity and approvals.
• Process patient estimates and collect payments; apply discounts as per policy.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; support cross-functional PAS tasks.
