Job summary

Halifax Health Port Orange is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to perform scheduling, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling for hospital services. You will create accurate registration records and coordinate admissions and bed placement with nursing, while providing compassionate service to patients and families.

The role requires strong communication, confidentiality, and proficiency with computer systems (Word, Excel, EPIC EHR).

Qualifications

• Experience communicating with individuals from varying backgrounds.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Ability to verify demographic information and insurance benefits.
• EPIC EHR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for hospital services accurately.
• Pre-register and register patients; collect signatures and documents.
• Coordinate admissions and bed placement with nursing.
• Obtain insurance eligibility and authorizations for services.
• Provide financial counseling and establish payment arrangements.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient charts and scheduling data.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues.
