Job summary

Nicklaus Children's is seeking a Registrar Patient Access at W. Kendall in Miami for per diem day shifts.

You will greet patients and families, collect demographics, financial information, third party payer details, and scheduling information to register patients for services. You will verify payer information, obtain required authorizations, collect payments when needed, and document all activities in the hospital system.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.
• Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Able to accurately enter and interpret data.
• Able to adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
• Able to serve customers with courtesy and respect.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families in person or on the telephone in a respectful and empathetic manner.
• Complies with HIPAA and EMTALA regulations.
• Interviews patients to obtain demographic, financial/medical information and identification for scheduling or registering.
• Collects payments and provides receipts.
• Verifies payer information via web or telephone.
• Obtains necessary authorizations for hospital services.
• Documents activities in the hospital system.
• Directs families to appropriate locations.
• Notifies management of any insurance/financial discrepancies.
