Job summary

Sentara in Elizabeth City, NC, is seeking a Patient Access Representative for full-time day shift. You will verify patient identity, select records, and register patients for services.

You will collect co-pays, explain financial responsibilities, and ensure accurate demographic and insurance data in the EHR. The role is typically the first point of contact, greeting patients, answering questions, and guiding them to the right service areas.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• 2 years of customer service and/or data entry experience.
• Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Register patients by verifying identity and selecting the correct patient record.
• Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service.
• Explain and collect co-pays, deposits, and outstanding balances; perform transactions securely.
• Greet patients and families, answer questions, and direct to the correct service area; may perform scheduling and pre-admission duties.
