Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Patient Access Advocate I to perform patient registration at the point of service for scheduled and unscheduled visits. Responsibilities include updating demographics, verifying insurance, collecting liabilities, and documenting in the ADT system.

Requires basic Medicare knowledge and compliance familiarity. Full-time daytime role at Reverend Hugh Cooper Administrative Center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience in healthcare setting or 1 year customer service background.
• Complete 2-week Patient Access Academy with at least 85% score within 6 months of start.
• CHAA, CHAM or other industry certification preferred.
• Basic understanding of insurance preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
• Basic understanding of registration and healthcare processes.
• Strong keyboarding skills and efficient data entry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• EPIC proficiency test with 85% score after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and compassionate patient interactions using CARES, AIDET, and EPE tools.
• Resolve complaints in the moment with de-escalation techniques and appropriate escalation when needed.
• Manage conflicts and seek supervisor assistance when necessary.
• Implement PROMISE and CARES behaviors in every encounter.
• Educate patients about insurance benefits and liabilities.
• Ensure accounts are financially cleared at time of service through thorough review.
