Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Patient Access Representative to perform scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance, and authorization tasks. You will verify demographics, identify medical benefits, calculate estimates, collect liabilities, and ensure accurate bill submission while delivering a positive patient experience.

You will collaborate with physician offices, payors and internal teams, maintain HIPAA/privacy compliance, and support AHN service excellence at Pittsburgh locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling, and preregistration functions, validates patient demographic data, identifies and verifies medical benefits, accurate plan code and COB order.
• Obtains limited clinical data based on service required and updates data to assure timely bill submission.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system and follows up on deficiencies.
• Identifies all patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities and posts payments in the ADT system; performs daily reconciliation.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and external agencies.
• Maintains productivity standards and explores innovative approaches to improve performance and efficiency.
• Adheres to AHN policies and completes mandatory training.
