Job summary

Highmark Health through Allegheny Health Network seeks a Patient Access role to complete scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance and authorization tasks. You will present AHN's services clearly to patients and families and help them understand financial responsibilities, while maintaining compliance with HIPAA.

Providing accurate data, collecting liabilities, and supporting revenue cycle workflows, you will contribute to positive patient experiences and efficient operations within AHN.

Qualifications

• Minimum High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of related experience preferred, ideally in medical or financial services.
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications.
• Medical terminology and obtaining insurance verifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, preregisters, validates patient data and benefits; ensures accurate plan codes. (30%)
• Verifies insurance information with payors and follows up on authorization/referral needs. (20%)
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, estimates and collects liabilities, posts payments. (20%)
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients and external contacts. (10%)
• Maintains productivity, supports process improvements, and adheres to policies. (10%)
• Performs other duties as assigned. (10%)
