Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access professional to manage scheduling, preregistration, and financial clearance processes. You will verify patient benefits, collect anticipated liabilities, and communicate clearly with patients and physician offices to ensure accurate bill submission.

You will maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, support positive patient experiences, and collaborate with AHN leadership and payors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least one (1) year of related healthcare Revenue Cycle experience, preferably in a financial clearance setting.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience operating PC and using software applications required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling and preregistration functions, validates patient demographic data, identifies and verifies medical benefits, accurate plan code and COB order.
• Obtains limited clinical data based on service required and updates data to ensure timely, accurate bill submission.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system; identifies payor authorization/referral requirements.
• Provides documentation and follow up to physician offices, case management department, and payors regarding authorization/referral deficiencies.
• Identifies all patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities and posts payments in the ADT system; escalates to Financial Counselors as needed.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and external agencies.
• Keeps focus on productivity standards and suggests new approaches to enhance performance.
• Adheres to AHN policies and completes required trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
