Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in McMurray, PA is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to complete scheduling, preregistration, insurance verification, and financial clearance while presenting AHN services clearly to patients and families.

You will verify benefits, communicate with physician offices and payors, collect liabilities, and help patients understand their financial responsibilities, contributing to accurate bill submission and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications
• Preferred Medical terminology and obtaining insurance verifications

Responsibilities

• Completes scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance, authorization and referral validation and pre-serviceability estimations and collections.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system.
• Identifies all patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities and posts payments in the ADT system.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and external agencies.
• Maintains productivity standards and adheres to AHN policies and completing required trainings.
