Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in New Jersey to manage inpatient and outpatient access functions, ensuring compliance, accurate demographics, and complete eligibility screening using EPIC.

You will conduct registrations, insurance verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance, greet patients, collect payments where appropriate, and maintain a positive patient experience while upholding regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including every other weekend.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service oriented with basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Ability to work three holidays per year.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors promptly and courteously.
• Performs scheduling, pre-registration, pre-certification, and insurance verification.
• Verifies patient demographics and eligibility; ensures accurate patient identity.
• Manages check-in, bed planning, and unit assignments.
• Obtains and verifies regulatory forms and authorizations.
• Maintains compliance with policies and patient safety rules.
• Escalates issues when needed and supports Financial Counselors as appropriate.
