Job summary

Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, WA is hiring a Patient Access Specialist I to deliver compassionate customer service and ensure accurate patient scheduling and registration for clinic and hospital services. This role supports patients through their care experience with financial interactions and data integrity.

The position is Per Diem with variable shifts, requiring a HS diploma (associates preferred) and healthcare revenue knowledge.

Qualifications

• Customer service excellence in fast-paced healthcare settings.

• Ability to accurately enter and verify patient data.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and register patients in applicable software systems, ensuring data integrity including patient identification and insurance verification.
• Verify referrals and pre-authorizations for applicable services.
• Conduct registration interview with patient prior to initial visit.
• Perform point-of-service collections for patient financial responsibility (co-pays, co-insurances, balances) and manage cash drawer.
• Operate multi-line telephone system and route calls to appropriate staff.
• Respond to patient inquiries and complete timely patient intake while maintaining confidentiality.
• Complete daily work queue assignments and general administrative tasks.
• Process incoming, outgoing, and inter-office mail.
• Research and analyze workflow improvements for efficiency.
• Perform special projects and other related duties.
