Job summary

Summa Health System is seeking a Patient Access Liaison to interview patients in person, at their workstation or bedside, to collect information and guide them through the registration and insurance processes.

You will explain brochures, determine eligibility, collect co-pays and deductibles, and refer to financial advocates as needed. The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• One (1) year experience performing customer service or general office support in any industry preferred.
• Experience in Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre-Certification, Financial counseling, Patient Accounts a plus
• Knowledge of keyboard with high accuracy and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Demonstrates communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well within a team environment and handle fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients in person, at their workstation, or at the bedside to obtain all necessary information.
• Communicates effectively with patients and their families and navigates through registration and insurance processes.
• Ensures brochures/registration documents are presented, explained, and completed accurately.
• Generates patient estimates, collects co-pays, co-insurances and deductibles, and identifies uninsured patients.
• Provides information and makes referrals to patient financial advocates when appropriate.
