Job summary

Summa Health's Barberson Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Liaison for Central Registration. The role supports in-person and workstation-based patient intake from 9:00am to 5:30pm in a full-time capacity, delivering courteous service and accurate registration documentation.

You will navigate insurance policies, assist with benefits explanations, collect payments, and connect patients with financial advocacy when needed, contributing to a positive Summa Health experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Post high school coursework in healthcare, business or related fields preferred.
• Experience in customer service or general office support is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients in person, at workstation or bedside to obtain all necessary information.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families and guides them through the registration process, insurance policies and healthcare benefits.
• Ensures brochures and registration documents are presented, explained and completed accurately.
• Uses applications to assign insurance plans, verify eligibility, generate patient estimates, and collect co-pays, co-insurances and deductibles.
• Provides financial assistance information and refers to patient financial advocates as appropriate.
