Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Intake Specialist to support clinical operations with heavy telephone intake, patient registration, and appointment scheduling. You will verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and handle billing inquiries to ensure accurate patient accounts.

The role requires accurate data entry, strong customer service, and collaboration with clinicians to schedule follow-ups. Training and coverage across sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Heavy telephone intake and patient registration responsibilities.
• Manage appointments, collect client data, and verify insurance cards.
• Handle billing inquiries and obtain authorizations for services.

Responsibilities

• Heavy telephone intake, patient registration, and appointment bookings.
• Typing correspondence and managing phone & foot traffic.
• Verify/obtain initial authorizations and verify current insurance coverage.
• Respond to billing and insurance inquiries and expedite collections.
• Process Prior Authorization forms and track status.
• Monitor charge entry and correct clinician/provider entries as needed.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments with patients and reschedule/cancel as requested.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and assist in training new personnel.
