Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Registration Clerk to provide timely registration for inpatient and outpatient services, entering accurate demographics and insurance information, and guiding patients with compassion.

Under the Patient Access Manager, you will answer phones, collect balances, verify eligibility, and help maintain a smooth registration process while upholding privacy and high-quality patient experience across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Excellent customer service and service recovery.

• Routinely uses reference materials to determine proper action.
• Follows downtime procedures as established.
• Proactively handles downtime work.
• Contributes to patient satisfaction scores (Press Ganey/HCAHPS).
• Processes pre-registrations for all appointment types and locations.
• Answers phones and returns voicemails promptly.
• Seeks guidance from supervisor when needed.
• Maintains professional relationships with patients and staff.
• Verifies patient insurance eligibility.
• Maintains open communication within the team.
• Estimates patient financial liability and handles payments.
• Maintains quality review scores.
• Follows policies and procedures.
• Attends meetings/seminars as required.
• Applies quality improvement in daily work.
• Follows health and safety rules.
• Respects diversity and maintains professional standards.
