Job summary

Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA is seeking a Patient Service Representative II for per diem, rotating shifts. You will greet patients, collect demographic and financial information for registration, and assist with insurance verification to support timely billing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1–3 years recent experience in acute care hospital registration or business office
• Knowledge in Medicare, Medi-Cal and third party billing and collection procedures
• Type a minimum of 35 WPM
• Experience or knowledge in admissions, registrations and insurance verification is essential.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in person or by phone; collects demographic, financial and medical information for registration.
• Coordinates and assists in completing activities related to patients' finances to facilitate billing and collection while adhering to policies.
• Obtains, monitors and expedites necessary authorizations and approvals for hospital outpatient services and/or elective surgeries.
• Acts as a resource and liaison for department staff and guests seeking information.
