Job summary

AdventHealth in Auburndale, Florida seeks a patient access professional to support billing, eligibility, and pre-authorization processes. You will register patients, verify insurance, and collect payments while coordinating with clinical and administrative teams.

The role requires strong customer service, bilingual capabilities, and knowledge of EMR systems. Position is full-time with day shifts and weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Mature judgement in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs.
• Ability to operate general office machines (computer, fax, printer, scanner).
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and organize work efficiently.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to adapt in a changing healthcare environment.
• Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and confidentiality.
• Knowledge of EMR systems and medical terminology.
• Exposure to insurance benefits; ability to decipher benefits.

Responsibilities

• Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed.
• Creates accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or sets up payment plans.
• Coordinates with utilization management for pre-authorization issues and ensures patients have required information.
• Contacts insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits, and obtains pre-authorizations within timeframes.
• Registers patients for all services, ensuring accuracy and minimizing duplication of records.
• Collects demographic and insurance information from patients and confirms coverage details.
• Provides coverage for PBX as needed and performs cashiering duties with accuracy.
• Maintains excellent customer service and documents all conversations with patients and insurers.
