Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Part-Time Patient Access Representative to manage the registration process for patients at outpatient and Emergency Department locations.

You will greet patients, verify demographics, enter diagnosis and insurance information, and collect point-of-service payments, with occasional travel between campuses. The role emphasizes friendly service, accurate data entry, familiarity with medical terminology, and collaboration with clinical and revenue

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• General computer experience and ability to type fluently, accurately, and quickly.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Insurance background preferred.
• Knowledge of health information systems (Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and validate patients in hospital information systems to maintain EMR integrity.
• Cross-train in all areas of location or region; cover outpatient and ED as needed.
• Greet and direct patients and visitors; enforce visitor policies when applicable.
• Answer calls about facility services and provide accurate information.
• Promote MyChart patient portal and self-service capabilities to enhance patient engagement.
• Assist with Welcome Kiosk and On My Way technology to guide patient flow.
• Obtain required referrals and pre-certifications when not documented to reduce denials.
• Obtain medical license number, NPI, and UPIN for new outpatient entries.
