Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support front-desk operations in our IL facilities. You will greet patients, verify identities, collect co-pays, process registrations, and manage payments, while maintaining a clean waiting area and communicating delays to patients.

We value strong customer service, attention to detail, and accuracy in demographic and insurance information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 0–2 years of customer service experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and guests upon arrival and confirm identity.
• Process check-in and check-out functions as directed.
• Update patient demographics and insurance information.
• Register patients when needed and obtain consents/authorizations.
• Collect co-pays and process payments; post payments and perform end-of-day closing.
• Keep waiting area clean and comfortable and inform patients of delays.
• Schedule appointments as necessary; float to other ICCs/departments as needed.
