Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access roles prefer experience in scheduling, registration or financial clearance.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, third-party payer requirements, and pre-authorization/referral processes is beneficial.
• Strong numerical aptitude and ability to interpret insurance information.
• Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and communicate professionally with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and monitors flow to ensure efficient, courteous service.
• Verifies and updates patient demographics and insurance information.
• Completes registration for walk-ins and checks out patients, scheduling follow-ups as needed.
• Collects patient financial responsibility and references financial clearance policies.
• Maintains knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization rules; refers to Financial Counselor as needed.
• Provides excellent customer service and communicates process improvements to management.
• Works toward productivity targets and accuracy requirements.
