Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Davie NC is hiring a Patient Services Representative to complete patient registration, verify demographics and insurance, and explain estimated balances at check-in. You will collect payments, determine financial responsibility, assist with pre-certifications, and refer complex cases to Financial Counseling, while maintaining HIPAA guidelines and high accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access experience preferred.
• Experience with scheduling, registration, and financial clearance is desirable.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA rules and insurance pre-certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients arriving for their appointments and monitors flow for efficient, courteous service.
• Verifies all demographic and insurance information and completes registration for walk-ins.
• Calculates and collects patient liability, including past due balances, and explains estimates.
• Follows Financial Clearance policy when authorization is not obtained, as appropriate.
• Identifies patients needing financial assistance and refers to Financial Counselor.
• Performs visit closure and schedules follow-up appointments as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of current payer requirements and preferred insurance plans.
