Job summary

Qualifications

• HIPAA compliance knowledge and ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record that serves as the foundation of the patient medical record.
• Checks in and registers patients; verifies demographic, guarantor, and insurance information and collects co-pays.
• Knows insurance basics and discusses financial obligations with patients and refers to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Enforces HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulatory requirements and obtains signatures as required.
• Schedules patient appointments and communicates test preparations and arrival details.
• Provides a welcoming, professional environment, greets patients, answers calls, and assists with transportation or interpreter services.
• Monitors and manages electronic health record work queues per department procedures.
