Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access Representative to handle scheduling, preregistration, and insurance verification, ensuring accurate data and proper COB. This role helps patients understand their financial responsibilities and supports timely bill submission.

The ideal candidate will have strong PC skills, customer service experience, and a background in healthcare or financial services; certification in revenue cycle is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one - three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two previous years of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment.
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications.
• Certification with Healthcare Financial Management Association or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (preferred).
• Call/Service Center experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling, preregistration functions, validates patient data, identifies benefits, accurate plan code and COB order; ensures timely bill submission.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts; provides documentation and follows up on authorization/referral deficiencies.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, estimates, collects liabilities and reconciles daily in ADT system; escalates complex cases.
• Delivers positive patient experience; maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and external agencies.
• Maintains productivity; adheres to policies and participates in training.
• Communicates barriers or issues to team lead; assists in resolving patient issues and providing operational support.
