Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to deliver excellent customer service during the patient access/intake process and support the revenue cycle.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in Insurance or Patient Registration in a healthcare environment.
• Associate or BA degree may substitute for experience (as approved).
• High School Diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• CHAA certification preferred within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent telephone and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to enter data using multiple computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient safety with accurate and timely patient identification.
• Complete patient access processes (pre-registration, registration, collections) timely and accurately.
• Conduct confidential and professional interviews for patient registration and discharge collections.
• Request, collect, and receipt monies according to financial policies.
• Activate accounts and disseminate charts appropriately.
• Function as Lead for patient access/intake process when Supervisor or Director is not on duty.
• Assist in audits, denial reports, and staff education on procedures and processes.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
