You will manage pre-registration, registration, and discharge tasks, adhere to HIPAA and EMTALA, and ensure accurate identity checks with patient armbands while handling payments securely. Strong communication and multitasking in a fast-paced healthcare environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Customer services experience required.
• Medical insurance or hospital/clinic experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to enter data using a computer with multiple applications.
• Excellent telephone and communication skills.
• Must possess basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and support the patient access process across the revenue cycle, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety.
• Ensure accurate and timely patient identification, including proper application and verification of patient armbands.
• Conduct confidential, professional interviews for pre-registration, registration, or discharge collections.
• Initiate and complete registration processes, including quick registration for emergent cases.
• Follow EMTALA regulations and payer documentation requirements.
• Coordinate with insurance representatives and interpret insurance verification responses.
• Maintain an error rate at or below 5%.
• Collect, receipt, and secure co-payments and deposits, following financial policies.
• Activate accounts and disseminate records according to procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in handling all patient data.
• Consistently adhere to safety practices, including proper use of safety techniques and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
